PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an enteric nutritional supplementary composition effective in treatment and prevention of inflammatory diseases of the gastrointestinal duct, e.g. Crohn's disease. SOLUTION: This composition comprises (a) casein rich in TGF-β2, (b) a lipid source which supplies approximately 35 to 50% of energy, and (c) a carbohydrate source. One of the preferred embodiments of the composition is as follows: the casein contains 1.2 to 2.0μg/g of TGF-β2, or 10 to 40μg of TGF-β2 is present in 100g of the composition. The lipid source is composed of a mixture of 20wt.% or less of medium-chain triglyceride and long-chain triglyceride, and contains polyunsaturated essential fatty acids which supply 10% or less of the lipid energy. The composition has an energy content in a range from 800 to 1200kcal/l, of which 10 to 14.5% is supplied by the casein. |
