A data input device comprising a rotatable ball (1) and rotation detection means (4) for detecting the rotation of said ball (1), characterized by at least one first interaction means (2) being provided at a predetermined location on or in said ball (1), and at least one second interaction means (3) being provided at a predetermined location around said ball (1), said first and second interaction means (2; 3) being capable of interacting to thereby exert a force such that the force necessary for rotating said ball (1) depends on the positional relation between said first and second interaction means (2; 3). Therefore, the ball is able to assume a predetermined, finite number of states, and the user can feel and preferably hear the ball assuming these states. |
