In optical wide-band connecting lines and subscriber connection systems having copper remote supply lines, decentralised (especially narrow-band) optical network units of the light waveguide and/or subscribers' equipment are only partly remotely supplied with the supply current required at peak traffic times and the remaining supply current is provided by buffer batteries at the connector or subscriber charged during periods of low traffic.
