A device for processing a screen opening/closing effect of a wide televison gradually opens/closes a screen generated by a blanking control operation if an operation power-supply of a wide television is turned on or off. The device includes: a function setting part(12); a microcomputer(14) for generating PWM control signal to gradually increase/decrease a DC level of a control voltage in order to generate a blanking control pulse; an integrator(18) for integrating a PWM control signal from the microcomputer(14), and having a DC level linearly increased or decreased with the lapse of time; a blanking control pulse generator(20) for receiving a horizontal synchronous signal and a vertical synchronous signal from a synchronization divider(4), and generating a blanking control pulse whose blanking period becomes gradually longer or shorter; and image switching part(22) for making a composite video signal from a video signal processor(6) switch an image output state on CRT(10) screen, and making the CRT(10) screen be gradually opened/closed from a given center point.
