3-Aminopyridine derivatives of general formula (1), wherein m is 0-4; n is 1-2; R<1> is optionally substituted monocyclic or bicyclic aryl or heteroaryl; R<2>, R<3> and R<4> are independently selected from H, lower alkyl, perfluoro-lower alkyl, optionally substituted phenyl and optionally substituted naphthyl; X is selected from -CH2-, -O-, -S-, -NH- and -NMe- and Y is -CR<5>R<6>- where R<5> and R<6> are independently selected from H and methyl, and when m is greater than 1 the repeating embodiments of Y can be identical or different, are new. The compounds are inhibitors of T-cell proliferation and protein farnesyl transferase. They are useful as pharmaceutical agents for the treatment of inflammatory and malignant diseases.
