PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide horizontal and vertical three-dimensional base isolation with simple constitution by using a disc spring provided with a nonlinear spring characteristic that can lengthen the natural period of a building, as a vertical base isolator. SOLUTION: A disc spring 16 is provided in a vertical clearanceδbetween a building upper foundation 12 and a building lower foundation 14. The disc spring 16 elastically supports the building upper foundation 12 to the building lower foundation 14 in the state of pre-load being applied to the disc spring 16 so as to use a nonlinear spring area where spring force fluctuation is reduced in relation to the spring deformation quantity. Moving mechanism 18 allowing relative horizontal movement of the building upper foundation 12 and building lower foundation 14 is provided between the disc spring 16 and the building lower foundation 14, and coil springs 20, 20a are provided to restrict the movement of the moving mechanism 18 with spring force.
