Print works paper pile accumulation capture and release assembly

A paper handling machine used especially in a printing process receives a quasi-continual supply of sheets of paper which are accumulated by an arrester gear at a given point and are collected into a vertical pile. When the pile is complete, the arrester gear releases the assembled pile and commences accumulation of the next pile without interruption of the flow of oncoming sheets of paper. The arrester gear is a rod (10) bearing a series of flanges (1) each with a flat face (1') which arrests the oncoming paper edge. Each flange is of approximately J-cross-section extending below the paper pile. On rotation of the rod, the formed pile of paper is released and accumulation of the next pile commences.
