PURPOSE: A field emission display device compensating a defect of a side of a panel and a method for driving the same are provided to compensate for a defect of a side portion of a panel by forming a resistance layer inducing voltage drop. CONSTITUTION: A field emission display device compensating a defect of a side of a panel and a method for driving the same comprise a multitude of gate resistance layer(20), a gate driving circuit(40), and a switching device(50). The multitude of gate resistance layer(20) is formed between each pixel existing on a multitude of gate line(10) in order to induce voltage drop. The gate driving circuit(40) applies a gate driving voltage to one side terminals or the other side terminals of the gate lines(10). The switching circuit(50) transfers the gate driving voltage to the gate lines(10).
