A method and device for securing the use of cards such as bank payment cards (10) comprising means of identification and/or authentication by associating each card (10) with a radiotelephone (20), localizing the radiotelephone (20) on a payment terminal (12, 16, 18) each time the card (10) is used, validating the use of said card (10) if the locations of the terminal (12, 16, 18) and the radiotelephone (20) correspond and by making a radiotelephone call (20) if the opposite is the case in order to request acceptance or refusal by the radiotelephone carrier of the aforementioned use of the card (10). The invention can be used to secure the use of bank payment cards and other information media comprising or forming a means of identification or authentication.
