PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce drag torque without spoiling torque transmitting function by arranging a changeover means on a working fluid route communicated with an outer chamber by a working fluid circulating means, and selectively communicating the outer chamber with a fluid pressure operating source and a reserve tank. SOLUTION: This fluid coupling device is provided with a working fluid circulating means 6 circulating working fluid from an outer chamber 400a through a working chamber 4a. The circulating means 6 sucks the working fluid in a reserve tank 65 from the suction side passage 660 and discharges to a passage 661 by a hydraulic pump 60. It is supplied to a passage 662 communicated with the outer chamber 400a through an electromagnetic changeover valve 67. The electromagnetic changeover valve 67 intercepts communication of the passage 661, 662 to communicate the passage 662 with the passage 660 through a passage 663. Hereby charging efficiency of the working fluid into the fluid coupling is lowered, and drag torque can be remarkably reduced.
