FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods (variants) for preparing alkoxyphenylacetic acid nitriles of the general formula (I): , wherein R1 means (C1-C6)-alkyl, (C1-C6)-alkoxy-group, hydrogen atom; R2 means (C1-C6)-alkyl, (C1-C6)-alkoxy-group, hydrogen atom; R3 means (C1-C6)-alkyl. Also, invention relates to a method for preparing intermediate halomethyl derivatives of phenol esters of the general formula (II): , wherein R1, R2 and R3 have abovementioned values and Gal means halogen atom that are known as intermediate compounds used in synthesis of medicinal preparations. Method for preparing nitriles involves the halomethylation reaction of phenol esters with formaldehyde and a mixture of hydrogen halide acid and haloanhydride in their ratio = 1:(0.15-0.35) in the presence of inert solvent followed by the cyaniding reaction of halomethyl derivatives formed.
