A device has a slot (14) extending in the transport direction (T) of an article (12), and is brought in a wall (16) of the conveyor track, whose length (L1) is larger than the target length (L2) of the articles and its width (B) is smaller than the target diameter (D1) of the articles. The slot at its downstream end proceeds into a recess (18) and whose diameter (D2) is larger than the target diameter of an accurate intact article.
