Preparation of photonic material (A) containing colorant comprises regularly arranging the opal template sphere; filling the space of the spheres with one or more precursor of the wall material; forming the coiled material and removing the opal template spheres; contacting the colorant into the cavities, where the precursor is dissolved into the colorant by solution impregnation process and contacted into the cavities of the inverse opal by pore diffusion; removing the solvent and subsequently transforming the precursor into the colorant, where (A) exhibits regularly arranged cavities.
