The method involves determining a variable data before and/or during execution of a transaction established between a portable electronic object e.g. contactless chip card (10), and a contactless electronic chip card reader type terminal (20), where the variable data is obtained from calculation processes executed by the card before and/or during the transaction with the terminal. The variable data is stored during the transaction, and the stored variable data is used as a variable identifier of the card for establishing an ulterior transaction between the card and the terminal. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a portable electronic object comprising a communication unit (2) a terminal comprising a communication unit.
