A ball valve type tap mixing valve has hot, cold and mixed water flow connections to a housing body cavity which also contains the ball valve. One control stem (42) controls water flow and temperature through the tap. The valve is mounted as part of a cartridge (56) with a housing penetrated by stem (42) and having an open bottom end (92) used to mount the ball valve in cooperation with the water ports. A seal seat (94) in the upper housing carries a seal (98) to seal off stem (42) leakage. - The ball valve has slots (6) with through shaft (64) journalled outside said slots (60) into the cartridge housing (67) with said ball rotatable about axis (75) of said shaft (64). A brace (80) extends from stem (42) inside the ball around said shaft (64) to prevent the ball valve dropping out of the open housing end (92). |
