A cooling cycle apparatus and a control method thereof are provided to prevent liquid coolant from being flowed into a compressor by connecting two points on a first pipe of a suction pipe in initial driving and vaporizing liquid refrigerant. A cooling cycle apparatus(1) comprises a compressor(10), a condenser(20), an expander(30), an evaporator(40), an accumulator(60), a suction pipe(70) and a three way valve(77). The compressor compresses refrigerant. The condenser condenses the refrigerant supplied from the compressor. The expander distends the refrigerant supplied from the condenser. The evaporator evaporates the refrigerant supplied from the expander. The accumulator separates the liquid coolant from the refrigerant supplied from the evaporator. The suction pipe comprises a first pipe(71) and a second pipe(73). The first pipe connects the accumulator and the compressor. The second pipe connects two points on the first pipe. An evaporation unit is installed at the second pipe. A three-way valve selectively opens the first pipe and the second pipe.
