A sealed compressor is provided to decrease the amount of a refrigerant filled and prevent explosion by forming the outer diameter of a motor smaller than that of a compression mechanism unit. A sealed compressor(100) comprises a compression mechanism unit(20), a motor(10), a cylinder(16) and a compression chamber. The compression mechanism unit and the motor are arranged in a closed vessel(1). The motor operates the compression mechanism unit. The cylinder includes a rolling piston(7), which is inserted into an eccentric shaft(6a) of a crank shaft(6) rotated by the motor. The compression chamber is formed by a cylinder head(4) and a frame(5). The cylinder head and the frame block up the both axial ends of the cylinder. A refrigerant is consecutively compressed in the compression chamber. The motor is inserted in the inner surface of the closed vessel. The outer diameter of the motor is smaller than that of the compression mechanism unit. When the inner diameter of the cylinder is D and the height of the cylinder is H, D/H is 0.5-1.6.
