PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive electrode active material for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, capable of achieving a high capacity and a higher output when used as a positive electrode material.SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing a positive electrode active material for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises a mixing process for obtaining a W mixture which is a mixture of a Li metal composite oxide particle comprising primary particles expressed by a general formula LiNiCoMO(where, 0<x≤0.35, 0≤y≤0.35, 0.95≤z≤1.30, M is at least one element selected from Mn, V, Mg, Mo, Nb, Ti and Al) and a secondary particle formed by agglomeration of the primary particles, 2 mass% or more moisture with respect to the oxide particle, and a W compound, or a mixture of the W compound and the Li compound, where a mole ratio of the moisture and a solid portion of the W compound with respect to a W amount contained, or a mole ratio of the total Li amount the W compound and the Li compound with respect to the W amount contained, is 3 to 5. The method of manufacturing a positive electrode active material further comprises a heat treatment process for heat-treating the W mixture to form tungstic acid on the surface of the primary particle.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
