PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress generation of ringing, and to emphasize edges in a more suitable mode.SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus includes: a gain calculation unit for defining each pixel in input image data as a target pixel and calculating a first gain corresponding to each of edges of a previously determined plurality of sorts on the basis of respective pixel values of the target pixel and its peripheral pixels; a blend ratio calculation unit for calculating a feature value of certainty of each of the edges of the plurality of sorts on the basis of the pixel values of the target pixel and the peripheral pixels and calculating weight of the first gain calculated in each edge on the basis of the calculated feature value; a gain adjustment unit for calculating a second gain on the basis of the first gain calculated in each edge and the weight of the first gain; and an output image generation unit for generating output image data by applying the second gain when each pixel in the input image data is defined as the target pixel to the pixel value of the target pixel.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 |
