The present invention relates to an air conditioning device and a controlling method thereof and, more specifically, to an air conditioning device including an outdoor unit with a compressor and an outdoor heat exchanger and an indoor unit with an expansion valve and an indoor heat exchanger and to a controlling method thereof. The outdoor unit includes: a cabinet forming the appearance and having the outdoor heat exchanger therein; at least one air intake formed in at least one lateral surface of the cabinet; a first blowing fan formed on the top of the cabinet and discharging air received through the air intake to the outside of the cabinet again; a grill arranged in the upper side of the first blowing fan and protruding upward from a top surface of the cabinet; a heating member joined to the grill and emitting heat; a snow senor formed in an upper part of the cabinet; and a control unit selectively controlling the first blowing fan and the heating member based on signals received from the snow sensor and a duration of the signals. The purpose of the present invention is to provide an air conditioning device capable of sensing snow on a top surface of the outdoor unit with an air vent and easily removing the snow from the top surface of the outdoor unit. |
