PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite grinder which can perform grinding in a plurality of processes while holding a workpiece having a grinding region of a rotating face, and a grinding method.SOLUTION: Rotation centers of workpiece holding devices 61, 62, 63 and 64 are arranged on a circumference with a C-axis being a turning axial line of a turning table 5 as a center. A composite grinder comprises: columns 3a, 3b and 3c which advance and retreat with respect to a direction orthogonal to the C-axis; grinding heads 4a, 4b and 4c which are arranged at the columns, respectively, and advance and retreat with respect to a direction which is parallel with the C-axis; and grinding wheels 9a, 9b and 9c which are arranged at the grinding heads, respectively, and rotate around a grinding axis which is parallel with the C-axis. A workpiece W whose end face is held at the workpiece holding devices 61, 62, 63 and 64 is sequentially moved by a turn of the turning table 5 so that a center of a grinding region coincides with a center of a work spindle, a plurality of grinding processes are performed, and a rotating face of the workpiece W is ground.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
