PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new polynucleotide having a high identity with a polynucleotide encoding a polypeptide containing a specific amino acid sequence and useful for the production, etc., of spo/rel polypeptides used for the screening, etc., of an antibacterial compound. SOLUTION: This new isolated polynucleotide consists of polynucleotides having at least 78% identity with polynucleotides encoding polypeptides containing amino acids of formula I to III, polynucleotides being complemental to the above polynucleotides, polynucleotides having at least 78% identity with a polynucleotide encoding the same mature polypeptide as that expressed by a spo/rel gene contained in a deposited strain of Streptococcus pneumoniae, and polynucleotides containing at least a series of 15 bases contained in the above polynucleotides, and is useful for the production, etc., of the spo/rel polypeptide. |
