The objective of the present invention is to provide a wearable camera and an image capturing system capable of recording video only when required. When a link has been established with a video recorder of a vehicle-mounted camera system (2), a wearable camera (1) begins operating in a first camera mode which does not use an SD memory (104), and transfers video data from an image-capturing unit (100) to the video recorder when a video record button (12) is pressed in the first camera mode. Meanwhile, when a link has not been established with the video recorder of the vehicle-mounted camera system (2), the wearable camera (1) begins operating in a second camera mode which uses the SD memory (104), and records the video data from the image-capturing unit (100) to the SD memory (104) when the video record button (12) is pressed in the second camera mode.
