PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive electrode active substance excellent in output characteristics and a discharge capacity without adding a relatively rare and expensive metal such as W and Mo.SOLUTION: The positive electrode active substance comprises lithium transition metal complex oxide particles represented by formula NiCoMCuCl(OH)(where x, y, z and w satisfy 0.10≤x≤0.35, 0<y≤0.35, 0<z≤0.0002 and 0<w≤0.0005 and M represents at least one additive element selected from Mn, Al, Mg, Ca and Na). The substance is produced by: supplying a mixture aqueous solution containing at least nickel, cobalt, an additive element M, copper and a chloride ion and having a molar ratio of the chloride ion to the cobalt ranging from 1.8 to 2.2, to a reaction vessel kept at a temperature of 40 to 60°C and a pH value in the range of 10.5<pH<12.0 at 25°C, so as to obtain a precursor comprising transition metal complex hydroxide particles; mixing the precursor with a lithium compound; and calcining the mixture in an oxidative atmosphere.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
