PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an immersion nozzle for continuous casting especially suitable under such a condition that high-basicity mold powders are used, and to provide a continuous casting method for a steel.SOLUTION: A zirconia-carbon material provided at a site contacting with the mold powder of an immersion nozzle for continuous casting includes a carbon material of 5 to 30 mass% of the total of the zirconia and carbon materials, and a zirconia material of 70 to 95 mass% of the above total.
