1,113,779. Forming selvedges; shuttleless looms. RUTI MACHINERY WORKS Ltd. 14 April, 1967 [15 April, 1966], No. 17358/67. Heading DIE. To form a firm selvedge a suction tube 26 enters the shed through the lower sheet 10 of warp threads, contacts the previously laid weft 14 extending from the selvedge to the bobbin 20 and the selvedge warp threads 11 , of the bottom sheet are raised to the top sheet level so that, after cutting of the weft thread, they grip the cut end as the suction tube tucks it in on withdrawal through the bottom sheet. Alternatively selvedge warp threads may be lowered to grip the end. The wefts are laid in both directions by a gripper shuttle and the end of the thread released by the gripper is contacted by a suction tube 13 which enters the shed and, on withdrawal, leaves the end either abutting or slightly over lapping the end previously tucked in (Fig. 5, not shown). The suction tube 26 is cam operated to give it warpwise as well as rotational movement. |
