<p>A horizontal plate in an asparagus peeling device is part of a vertical motor driven table. Above the horizontal plate is another horizontal plate connected to the vertical drive. Near the periphery of this plate are 20 cylinders suspended from the plate which are rotatable parallel to the vertical drive. A piston cylinder-pawl wheel arrangement is air drive to actuate the rotary motion of each cylinder, each of which has a cylindrical rubber rush fitted concentric to the rotary axis each bush being suitable to receive an asparagus head. The lower horizontal plate periphery carries a number of servo cylinders with arms from which a knife arrangement is supported. Upwards vertical movement of the knives allows free passage around the asparagus stalk. After reaching a topmost position the spring loaded knives on a downward stroke peel the asparagus over a 36 degrees angle. The knife arms are rotatable and coupled to the piston rod of the servo cylinder, allowing stepwise rotation to complete the peeling operation in 5 consecutive steps.</p> |
