PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating composition for forming a transparent coating layer having a high refractive index, a high surface hardness and high durability. SOLUTION: The coating composition consists of (A) and (B) as the principle components. (A) a colloidal dispersion of conjugated fine particle composed of one or more kinds of oxides of metals selected from Al, Ti, Zr, Sn, Sb, Ta, Ce, La, In and Si and tungsten trioxide. (B) an organic silicone compound or its hydrolysate expressed by the formula R<1> R<2> Si(OR<3> )3-a (R<1> is an organic group having at least one of a vinyl group, methacryloyloxy group, mercapto group, amino group or epoxy group or a 1-6 C hydrocarbon, R<2> is a 1-4C hydrocarbon, R<3> is a 1-5C hydrocarbon, an alkoxyalkyl group or hydrogen, a is 0 or 1). |
