The invention relates to a process for operating a two-stage gasifying burner at a total air index lambda ges of at least approximately 1.0. According to the invention, in the first mixing chamber (2), an at least partially evaporated, liquid fuel (4) introduced at virtually no applied pressure is mixed with a combustion exhaust gas part-stream (6) which is about 8 to 35 % by weight of a combustion exhaust gas stream (26, 32), and with a preheated primary air (8) at an air index 0.03 </= lambda 1 </= 0.05 and this fuel vapour/air/exhaust gas mixture is catalytically gasified in the subsequent catalyst device (12) to form fuel gas (14) which is then mixed with a combustion exhaust gas part-stream (18), which is about 10 to 25 % by volume of the combustion exhaust gas stream (32), and with a preheated secondary air (20) at least approximatley stoichiometrically and is then burnt in the combustion chamber (22). A continuously controllable, particularly low-pollution gasification burner is thus obtained, which can be operated with fuel liquid under standard conditions and is suitable as a heat source for a Stirling engine. Moreover, the gasification burner serving as the heat generator is intended with the aid of the process to be matched to the output of the Stirling engine in a continuous manner in the load range 1:8 and the efficiency of the system is intended to be increased. <IMAGE> |
