<p>PURPOSE:To prevent bad smell or white smoke generated from scrap by a method wherein fine scraps or previously fractionized normal temperature scraps are thrown into an oxidizing atmosphere in the smelting process of the scraps charged already. CONSTITUTION:When scraps, to which oil is not adhered, is preheated by the exhaust gas of an arc furnace 1 and is charged into the main body 1A of the furnace, arc is generated by the conduction of electrodes 2 whereby the charged scraps are heated and smelted. When the inside of the furnace has become high-temperature oxidizing atmosphere, fine scraps or previously fractionized normal-temperature scraps 8 are thrown from a scrap throwing means 11 continuously or semi-continuously. The scraps are heated during dropping and when they are dropped into a steel bath 3, they are heated by the arc and are smelted. The scraps 8 are heated by the oxygen gas of an oxygen gas blow pipe 5A or the flames of auxiliary burners 6A, 6B, which are provided to help the smelting, whereby bad smell constituents, adhered to the scraps 8, may be incinerated perfectly.</p> |
