PURPOSE:To perform good medium contrast recording even on plain paper such as fine paper by providing a heat-meltable ink layer consisting of a colorant, a low m.p. wax material and a filler on a sheet base material through an intermediate adhesive layer and further providing double layers consisting of a transparent porous resin layer and a transparent adhesive layer not taky at room temp. and having tackiness by heating on the ink layer. CONSTITUTION:A heat-meltable ink layer 14 consisting of a colorant, a low m.p. wax material and a filler is provided on a sheet base material through an intermediate adhesive layer 12 and double layers are further provided on the ink layer 14 in the order of a transparent porous resin layer 15 and a transparent adhesive layer 16 not tacky at room temp. and having tackiness by heating. This thermal transfer ink sheet 10 and plain paper 6 such as fine paper are superposed one upon another so that the ink sheet 10 is turned to the outside to be pressed to a platen roller 5 and a plurality of the heating parts of a thermal head 4 is selectively heated on the basis of printing data.
