摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hydrazono colorant having a good stability and a thermal transfer recording material which is produced by using a metal complex compd. of the hydrazono colorant, has a favorable hue in terms of color reproduction, optimal spectroscopic absorption characteristics, a good image fastness. a large molar absorptivity, and an excellent max. density of an image. SOLUTION: This thermal transfer recording material has a layer which is formed on a substrate and contains a hydrozono colorant represented by formula I or II (X is a radical or a group of atoms necessary for forming a coordination position having at lest two positions; Y is a group of atoms necessary for forming an arom. carbocycle or heterocycle; L<4> is N or -CR"=; L<5> is N or -CR<12> =; L<6> is N or -CR<13> ; and R<10> to R<13> are each H or a monovalent org. group). An image accepting material is placed on a thermal transfer recording material contg. a compd. represented by formula I or II; the recording material is heated if necessary; and a transfer image is formed by a metal complex colorant formed by the reaction of the colorant and a metal ion-contg. compd.
