The mechanism has bottom supporting arms (10) at least pivoting at opposite ends (14, 11) on brackets and travel trucks (12). A mechanism (26, 27, 30, 31) engages and frees a locking device for each arm as it is moved in and out of the shut position. There are two mirror-image trucks, each with its arm (10) and bearing bracket on the leaf, coupled by a differential linkage (16) and moving in opposite directions.
