Rotational workpieces, such as gear wheels (10), are transversely rolled between two sliding jaws (1,2) with toothed racks (3,4) which engage the gear teeth. The jaws oscillate vertically and move in the opposite direction to each other. Each jaw is mounted on a horizontal slide (5,6) mounted on a bed plate (9). The slides are moved by crankshafts, in order to accommodate different sizes of workpieces. The actuating crankshafts are driven independently of the drive to the jaws, which is tangential.
