Cover for swimming pool - is wound on to roll mounted on ends of hydraulically actuated arms

When a swimming pool is not in use it is covered by a flexible sheet (6`) which is unwound from a roll (6). When the swimming pool is in use, the cover is wound on to the roll which is stored in a trench (23) near one end of the pool. The roll is mounted on a spinle (R) which is supported on the ends of swinging arms (9) and both arms and roll lie in the trench which is covered by a lid (7). When it is required to cover the swimming pool the lid is raised to one position (7`) and a hydraulic cylinder swings the arm to one position (9`). The roll is then close to the edge of the pool and the cover is easily unwound.
