PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator system capable of moving a cage in one elevator shaft and without restriction concerning height of an elevator operating floor caused by weight of a support rope. SOLUTION: A plurality of sections respectively having a coupler connected to a rope 36 and an elevator winding machine are provided the winding machine selectively drives the rope 36 so as to move the coupler upward or downward direction in the section. A lower end of a vertical passage of the section is overlapped with an upper end of the other section, and a lower end of the vertical passage in the section is overlapped with a lower end of the other section. The number of elevator cages elevating in the sections is constantly a value of more than the number of the sections, the cage and the coupler have connecting means complementary with each other, when the connecting means are engaged with each other, the cage is elevated by the corresponding coupler, and when the connecting means is released, the cage is free to elevate in the passage without interferring with the coupler. |
