Equipment for continuous welding of a strip material (2) comprises an ultrasonic generator (3) and opposing tool (11) between which the strip (2) passes. The ultrasonic generator (3) includes a converter and a sonotrode (6), and is rigidly connected to the equipment stand holding the opposing tool (11). Also claimed is a process for maintaining a constant working gap (13) between the sonotrode (6) and opposing tool.
