The wire pick-up unit incorporating a gripper is provided with a lifter (2) shaped as tongs with jaws (6) which taper towards their free ends and are pivotable about a hinge (8). At least one of the jaws rests against a stop (9) which is mounted so that its position is vertically adjustable. The jaw surface contacting the stop is inclined or curved relative to the vertical, so that the jaw opening (7) depends on the vertical position of the stop. |
