PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition for coating, excellent in hardness, transparency, preservability, low shrinkage, low odor, weather resistance, low stimulation or the like, and capable of forming a thick film, and further to provide a production method thereof, and a coating material obtained by the method. SOLUTION: This ultraviolet curable composition for coating is obtained by heating and dissolving a thermoplastic acrylic polymer in a compound having 1-4 oxetane rings in the molecule, and adding a cationic photopolymerization initiator to the obtained mixture. The coating material is produced by irradiating the composition with UV.
