<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for encoding/decoding three dimensional volume data which can efficiently encode three dimensional volume data, further can encode three dimensional volume data having arbitrary resolution, and can gradually compress. <P>SOLUTION: This method for encoding/decoding three dimensional volume data comprises a stage which converts three dimensional volume data composed by including at least one of point texture data, voxel data and octree data into adaptive octree data with a predetermined label added to an intermediate node; a stage which encodes nodes of the adaptive octree; and a stage which generates a bit stream from data acquired by encoding at the stage for encoding the nodes of the adaptive octree. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
