A method of producing compounds of formula (I), wherein one of R1 and R2 is selected from -OH, -SH, and -NHR7; and the other of R1 and R2 is selected from H, -OH, -SH, -NHR7 and R8; R3 and R4 are each independently selected from R8; n and m are each independently 3; and each R5 and each R6 is independently selected from -OH, -SH, -NHR7, and R8; and R8 is as detailed in the specification; in enantiomerically enriched form, comprising reducing a compound of formula (H), wherein R1-R6 are defined as in formula (I), in the presence of B-haloisopinocampheylborane.
