The present invention relates to cardiomyocyte progenitor cells (CMPCs), to methods for their isolation and to the use of this CMPCs for the provisio n of cardiomyocytes, by way of differentiating the obtained CMPCs with a dem ethylating agent. The present invention also relates to pharmaceuticals comp ositions comprising cardiomyocytes for use in a cardiomyocyte replacement th erapy and/or for the treatment in myocardial infarctation or for amelioratin g the effects of myocardial infarctation.
