HYDROGEN SULFIDE REMOVAL METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR TREATING GASEOUS PROCESS STREAMS

A method and system for removing hydrogen sulfide from gaseous process streams, such as sour gas streams are disclosed and described. A gaseous stream (50) containing hydrogen sulfide can be contacted with an aqueous silicon-containing composition under high shear conditions to form a sweetened gaseous product (130). The gaseous product has significantly reduced hydrogen sulfide content and recovered liquid and solid filtrates are generally non-toxic.
