摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the transfer of electrical energy from an external power source to an on-board electrical storage device of a plug-in vehicle that reduces the number of components dedicated to transferring energy between the on-board electrical storage device and the external power source.SOLUTION: An apparatus comprises a first energy storage device 12 configured to output a DC voltage, and a first bi-directional voltage modification assembly 14 coupled to the first energy storage device. The apparatus also comprises an external high-impedance voltage source 62 coupleable to a charge bus and a controller 56 configured to monitor a transfer of charging energy supplied from the high-impedance voltage source to the first energy storage device. The controller is also configured to compare the monitored transfer of charging energy with a threshold value and control the first bi-directional voltage modification assembly to modify one of a voltage and a current of the charging energy supplied to the first energy storage device.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
