PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize the quality of a proof sheet by managing the balance of color (Y, M, C) ink using a gray patch as substitutional characteristics. SOLUTION: A printed matter is set on a measuring plane 10 and the gray patch on the printed matter is measured at a photoelectric measuring section 14 which delivers a measurement data to a processing section 20. The processing section 20 calculates the chromaticity of gray patch in a predetermined color coordinate system and decides whether the color tone is acceptable or not by checking a standard chromaticity coordinate and a managing width before presenting the results at a display section 40. When a decision is made that the color tone is rejectable at the processing section 20, a density value matching the spectral characteristics of a multicolor ink being used is calculated and used as a compensatory conditioning data for an ink conditioning mechanism. |
