PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a period of printing time especially for a small-sized paper by changing the traveling amount of a photoreceptor belt, in accordance with the size of a sheet to be printed. SOLUTION: In the case the sheet to be printed has A4-size for instance, when the development by a width of the A4-size is completed, the traveling of the photoreceptor belt 1 is temporarily stopped to perform a transfer. This stopping operation is automatically executed at the time when the processing of image data developed at a single developing operation is completed. After this stop, a transfer opposed roller 8 is moved in a direction perpendicular to the carrying direction of an A4-sized paper 9a, to transfer a toner image 7c formed on the belt 1 to the A4-sized paper 9a. After the opposed roller 8 is made to conduct a reciprocating stroke operation, to be returned to a home position, the belt 1 is driven to travel. When an A4-size positioning mark 13 is detected, the traveling of the belt 1 is stopped and the A4-sized paper 9a is carried by the width of a developing unit and stopped. |
