PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cope with contact electrifying and contact transferring systems as well, without providing an auxiliary cleaning member such as an electrically conductive brush by providing an operating mode for controlling a voltage applying means, so as to apply respective voltages for satisfying specific conditions to an electrifying member, a toner carrier and a transfer member. SOLUTION: A high-voltage power source 5 applies the voltage Vc to an electrifying roller 2, the voltage Vdiv to a developing roller 3 and further the voltage Vtr to a transfer roller 4, based on instructions from a controller 6. Each voltage satisfies the following conditions. The condition 1: the voltages Vc, Vdiv and Vtr have the same polarity as that of the charge of toner. The condition 2: the absolute values of V1 and Vdiv satisfy the relation of |V1 |>|Vdiv|. The condition 3: the absolute values of V1 and V2 satisfy the relation of |V1 |>|V2 |. Where, V1 denotes the surface potential of a region electrified by the voltage Vc on the surface of a photoreceptor drum 1 and V2 denotes the surface potential of a region electrified by the voltage Vtr on the surface of the drum 1. |
