[Also in Division D1] A process for preparing thermostable coloured trioxan copolymers comprises reacting a copolymer comprising 70 to 99.99% of trioxan, 0 to 10% of a cyclic ether or formal, and 0À01 to 20% of a compound of formula in which R 1 represents a 2,3-epoxy-propyloxy radical or a 1,3-dioxolano-4-methyloxy radical and R 2 is an aromatic hydrocarbon radical of 6 or 10 carbon atoms, and which may be substituted, with 0À1 to 2 mols, calculated on 1 mol. of the aldehyde incorporated in the copolymer, of a dispersion dyestuff, at a temperature of 0‹ to 150‹ C. The treatment of trioxan-ethylene oxide - p - glycideoxybenzaldehyde terpolymers with the following dyestuffs is exemplified;- 1 - amino - 2 - phenoxy - 4 - hydroxy -, 1,4 - diamino - 2,3 - diphenoxy -, 1 - amino - 2 - methoxy - 4 - hydroxy -, and 1,8 - diamino - 4,5 - dihydroxy - anthraquinones, 2 - bromo - 4,6 - dinitrophenyl - azo - 2 - acetylamino - 4 - di - (# - acetoxyethylamino) - 5 - ethoxy - benzene, 3 - nitrophenyl - azo - 3 - (1 - methyl - 4 - hydroxy - quinolone - 2), 2 - cyano - 4 - nitrophenyl - azo - 4 - cyanoethylaminobenzene, and 1 - aminonaphthalene - 4 - azobenzene. |
