<p>1314084 Ethylene polymerization to form blends E I DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO 29 April 1970 [2 May 1969] 20643/70 Heading C3P Polymer blends are obtained by continuously polymerizing ethylene, which may be mixed with a C 3-18 alphaolefin, in two zones in which (a) a temperature of 50‹ to 230‹ C. and a catalyst of a vanadium halide or oxyhalide and an organometallic, metal or hydride reducing agent is used to give a polymer having a weight average molcular weight of at least 0À25 x 10<SP>6</SP>, preferably using a tubular reactor, and (b) a temperature of 150‹ to 350‹ C. and a catalyst, different from that used in (a) in respect of either molar ratio, chemical identity or both, of a Group IVb or Vb compound and an organometallic, metal or hydride reducing agent is used, preferably in an agitated constant environment reactor, the product of (a) being mixed with the product or the polymerizable mix in (b), prior to deactivation thereof.
