Production apparatus comprises a pair of wire shaping rolls, devices for intermittently driving the rolls through a precise number of degrees to advance and shape the main wire between the rolls, and devices for rolling barbs onto the main wire. The main wire is positively engaged continually by the rolls, so that it is advanced and positioned with presicion with regard to the barb rolling devices.
